Document review and redaction for law firms

Nothing leaves your firm without a reviewer's approval.

RecordBeacon reads your document sets and flags names, account numbers, medical details, and privileged content. Then it stops. A reviewer decides every mark, and the release proves it.

Start with 15 documents free. No card, no clock, and it waits until you have a real set to run.

Built for the bad days

These are the days this product exists for. If they sound familiar, the trial is worth an afternoon.

The production that lands at close of business

Two hundred thousand pages, half of them scans, in a dozen native formats. Due back reviewed, redacted, and numbered.

PAGE 1 OF 3,118

The medical records set

Names, account numbers, and dates of birth scattered through thousands of pages that all have to be clean before they move.

SENT 4:51 PM

The version that almost went out

Everyone has the story about the file that was not fully redacted. It should be impossible to send that file. Here, it is.

How it works

Four steps. The third one is the point.

RB-000002
STEP 1

Upload the set

PDFs, Word files, emails, scans, phone photos. Video and audio evidence upload into the same set and play in place. Duplicates are caught on arrival. Scanned pages are read, even rough ones.

STEP 2

Three layers flag

Pattern matching, an in-house detection model, and a deep read flag personal information and privileged content. Every flag shows its reason.

STEP 3

A reviewer decides every mark

Approve, reject, or draw the box yourself on handwriting. Nothing is redacted until a named person says so. That is the design, not a disclaimer.

STEP 4

Release with proof

Black boxes burned into the page, a verification pass on the output, and an audit log of who decided what, and when.

When the page is a picture, a person draws the box

Handwriting and photographed forms cannot be trusted to text detection alone. So they are not.

RB-000003
  • The reviewer draws each box by hand. Drag, resize, remove. The marks belong to a person, not a model.
  • Release is blocked until every approved item has a box. A half-covered page cannot go out by accident.
  • Boxes burn into a copy of the original page. What you release is the true page with black ink on it. The untouched original stays preserved for custody.
  • Every box is attributed. Who placed it, and when, in the audit log.

Built like it will be audited

Because in this profession, one day it will be. RecordBeacon was built for a municipal law department's records work, where every claim below was a requirement, not a feature.

Your documents never train anyone's AI

Processing runs under a zero data retention agreement. No consumer chatbots appear anywhere in the pipeline.

United States only

Documents stay in one region, in one account, encrypted in transit and at rest.

Every action has a name on it

The audit log records each upload, decision, and release, attributed to the signed-in person, with the time.

Our cloud or yours

Standard hosting is a dedicated, single-tenant instance. Firms that want it inside their own cloud account can have that instead.

The questions careful firms ask

RB-000005
Does it redact documents on its own?

No. Detection flags what it finds and stops. A reviewer approves or rejects every mark, and the release step refuses to run while anything is undecided.

If the AI misses something, am I not back to reviewing every page?

You review every page either way. The difference is where your attention goes: the obvious instances arrive pre-flagged and take a click, so the careful reading goes to the hard ones. Flags speed review, they never replace it.

Is our data used to train AI?

No. Processing runs under a zero data retention agreement: the AI provider does not store your content and does not train on it. No consumer chatbots anywhere in the pipeline. Documents stay in one United States region.

We already have Adobe Acrobat. Why is this different?

Acrobat redacts one document at a time and knows nothing about the rest of your set. RecordBeacon manages the set: duplicates caught, flags queued, reasons recorded, output verified, audit log kept. Acrobat is a pen. This is the workflow around the pen.

Can it hold video and audio evidence?

Yes. Bodycam footage, recorded calls, and dashcam video upload into the same set as the documents, play in place with proper seeking, and stay tracked for chain of custody. One matter, one accounted-for set. Automated redaction of footage is not something we claim.

What happens to our documents after the trial?

You can delete your workspace and everything in it yourself, any time, from inside the app. Export your work first with one click.

Pricing

Flat monthly pricing. No per-page fees and no per-gigabyte hosting charges.

Solo and Firm start free and upgrade in the app whenever you are ready. On Firm, the people who review and release documents hold the paid seats. Extra reviewer seats are $79 a month, and read-only seats cost nothing, so the whole firm can see the work. Single documents run up to 500 pages on Solo and 2,000 on Firm; Dedicated has no page ceiling. Dedicated is a single-tenant instance, so it starts with a conversation about where it runs and who reviews the security.
